Furniture: Teak Bench
A teak bench is simply styled and adds a timeless touch to your outdoor decor. A finely crafted teak bench is ideal for outdoor use due to the high oil content that naturally resists deterioration. This type of bench will provides years of use on your deck or patio.
Teak, a tropical hardwood, loves the outdoors and is reflected in the craftsmanship of a bench. Left to the elements, teak weathers gracefully to a silvery gray or it can be treated with teak oil. When coated with oil, the teak bench will maintain its natural warm brown tones.
Durable Teak Benches
The most durable type of bench is constructed of kiln dried teak that will not shrink. It should also be treated with a teak oil finish in order to increase its longevity. You may choose not to continue oil the bench in order to retain its teak color, in which case it will age to a pale silver when exposed to the elements.
Designed for comfort, a straight back teak bench has a slatted seat, smooth finished armrests, and straight-cut detail at the upper portion of its back. Many teak benches come with visible fittings that are made of a solid metal, such as brass, in order to prevent corrosion. Precise mortise and tenon joinery ensure a sound structure in teak benches.
